Very interesting hire. Isn't he currently the AD at Einstein? Surprised he didn't hire himself as the Einstein coach.

Former Einstein coach, Jermaine Howell is the hire for Wheaton. Atleast they got a guy who actually knows how to run a football program. Good luck to Howell at Wheaton as this will be a ground up gig for him!

Rumor has it Sherwood enrollment plummeting thier joining the DCC Cilento going to get some players !! Sherwood joining the DCC doesn’t sound at all likely. The NEC would make much more sense, and I don’t see that happening.

When the NEC was first started, there was talk that Sherwood would be included, but it never materialized. That was in 1998, and I am not aware of any more recent talks. Similarly, when the DCC started, there was talk that BCC would be in it, but that never came to fruition either.

Sherwood was supposed to be part of the NEC initially, but the community protested and won. MCPS added an ESOL program at Sherwood to make up for it, but that went away a few years ago. Sherwood's enrollment has dropped in recent years. GC's move to Olney coupled with the flight of families from public to private at the outset of COVID has resulted in a decrease in students at Sherwood. A couple of years ago a group of parents in the community started exploring getting Sherwood into the NEC to combat the drop in enrollment. Initially this was a push to try to also increase diversity at Sherwood. MCPS didn't bite though and basically told the group it wasn't a possibility. I've heard the movement is gaining some steam again though. The drop in enrollment at Sherwood isn't drastic to the point that the building is severely under-enrolled... but it has caused some programs not to be offered due to decreased enrollments. I still don't see it happening. This would have some serious impacts to MCPS, Sherwood and the NEC to include significant transportation costs and severe demographic shifts in all four schools.

Any chance Sherwood drops to 2A next classification cycle?

Let's see, they allowed Damascus to drop to 2A and I didn't hear any complaining. I know some bus drivers and they said the transportation issues/costs would be a nightmare. Is it time to shift boundaries again?
