"Oakdale lost their starting corner #12 last week and the City receivers were getting wide open on blown coverage."Anybody know if this kid will be back? truthfully -- its not likely a big deal for the bears. He has also played some wide out this season but with limited success in the stat margin. Bears D should be fine.

I guess I’m just confused because you just wanted to compare coaching and then said it isn’t fair to compare head coaches (who are in my opinion an important part of a coaching staff). I'm confused by your confusion. LOL. I was just responding to the OP's statement that Linganore has a coaching advantage by saying that I don't really know if that's the case. ...then I pointed-out that, yes, Conner is very accomplished but he's also been around a lot longer. My Lancer friends are going to have to accept one of two possibilities. That Oakdale is also a very well coached team, or that they've been losing to a team that isn't well coached. I know which I'd prefer.

1 star Defensive Lineman doesn't mean you have the better line. I think Oakdale proved that vs Damascus a few years back. Linganore overall is better in the trenches. Both teams losing in recent state championship games is pretty unique. I keep going back and forth on who is going to win. Really tough call since both teams no each other so well. If Austin goes off I don't think Linganore can win. If Arneson goes off I still think Oakdale can win. I think Conor will contain Austin just enough.

Let's go back and look at the series history. Oakdale opened in 2010 and it wasn't until the fall of 2013 that they finally had kids in the program for a full 4 years- so let's start there.
2013 Linganore 42 Oakdale 0 2014 Linganore 35 Oakdale 13 2015 Linganore 21 Oakdale 20 2016 Oakdale 36 Linganore 0 2017 Oakdale 28 Linganore 9 2018 Oakdale 56 Linganore 7 2019 Linganore 30 Oakdale 17 2021 Linganore 54 Oakdale 53 overtime 2021 Linganore 44 Oakdale 27 playoffs 2022 Oakdale 28 Linganore 14 2023 Oakdale 21 Linganore 14 reg szn

I believe these games usually come down to 3 things. Who has the better O/D Line, Experienced Coaching and then who has the best player. The trenches and the coaching seems to favor Linganore. Oakdale has the best player on the field with Austin and its not close. Can he do enough to overcome the other 2 Im not so sure. If Linganore can just pound the ball and keep him off the field then I think they win. If Austin goes off then it will be a long day for Linganore. If you put a gun to my head Im taking Linganore in a classic. Better in the trenches? I don't know about that. Didn't they lose last time cause they kept getting stuffed on the goal line? Not so sure there's any coaching advantage there either. Linganore has a much different O line now then what they had last year, they were still gelling together during the game earlier this year. I think those same blunders do not happen this time around.

What’s wild is that despite the 2.6 point margin over the 11 games, and 6-5 series split, only three were decided by single digits, and more than half (6/11) have been decided by 17 points or more. I see this one making 4 of 12.

Media guide team notes from Oakdale; Oakdale Opened in 2010 With just Fr and So, then started Varsity in 2011 with no Seniors The Program Started 1-18 but since then is 91-30 Kurt Stein in the only Head Coach in School History Dom Nichols Michigan Univeristy Committ - Schools all time leader in Sacks and QB Pressures, 3rd All Time in Tackles Evan Austin - UNC Charolotee Commit - Is the Schools All time Leader in All Rushing Statistics AND All Passing Statistics Hunter Thompson - Universit of Ohio Commit - Schools All time leader in All Receiving Statistics This is the Programs 3rd Trip to the Finals (Won 2018 2A State Title vs Glenelg and Lost the 2022 3A Finals vs Damascus) In 2018 Oakdale Broke Damascus 53 Game winning streak that at the time was the longest in the country. Mulitole Spread Offense Mulitole 4-3 Defense Notable Alumni: Collin Schlee (UCLA), Percey Agei-Obesse (JMU), Bryce DeMaille (Delaware), Maurio Goings (Delaware St), Justin Ritter (Towson) Chase Haught (St Francis) I enjoyed watching the JMU RB Agei-Obesse on TV. Seemed like he was their forever. Injuries and COVID turned a 4 year stint into 6 years. Great career though.

There's no denying that Oakdale has replaced Urbana as the Lancers biggest rival. Even though its cringy to even admit that as a traditionalist the Hawks have been replaced in a sense. The Saturday night game reminds me of the days when the Lancers/Hawks would play in the playoffs making it one of the biggest games in the state. Saturday will feel much like that but even bigger - this is for state. The Lancers even called Oakdale home for 2 years - undefeated on the Bears field, 2 trips to states, and winning a state title in 2009. In a short amount of time this rivalry has grown to be the biggest game in Fredco. Farwell to the days of Grubby, Moravec, Castor, Hayes vs Lenz, Fields, Butts, Barnes. We are now at Arneson, Petruzello, Farster vs Austin, Nichols, Thompson. Lancers vs Bears Roll Tribe! Let's Roll

It’s both due to how good Oakdale is and how close these schools are. Oakdale was (literally) built from Linganore. Them meeting in a state final places them as the main rival to the lancers, in my opinion.

Very similar results against their in-county foe's this year... Linganore and Oakdale had 6 common opponents this season. They BOTH scored an average of 43 ppg against those six opponents, with the Lancers allowing 12 ppg and the Bears allowing an avg of 16 ppg against the conference. The biggest difference in the common opponents analysis is that Oakdale surrendered 25 points to Middletown, whereas Linganore shutout the Knights.
