Just curious.... Are transfers to any where one want to attend open in MoCo or must it be for cause (have to have an accepted reason, condition, approval)? And is there a sit out penality period to transfer? Well… if you want to go to a school out of your district you’re SUPPOSED to get a COSA, but who knows anymore.

And is there a sit out penality period to transfer? Students can apply for a COSA (change of school assignment) without changing residence. Some are accepted, some not. More about the process in MCPS is on its website. Even if a student's COSA application is accepted to transfer schools, the student must then apply for an athletic waiver to participate at the new school. Usually this is accepted, unless there is evidence that the transfer was strictly athletic in nature (or if there is evidence of recruiting for athletic purposes). There are other reasons for transfer that may not require a COSA - specialty programs or within one of MCPS' consortia (which has a "change of choice" process to transfer, but does not require a subsequent athletic waiver).

Northwest rarely runs the ball especially with those stud WR's. Weird to see this happen. Elliott will play in the secondary I imagine. 3rd school in 4 years for him. Jalen will help a ton on the line. Van and Rivers will be a nice RB combo but again I can't imagine NW running it that much. And I don't know if they go undefeated. Pretty sure QO still has the best player in the county (maybe state) on their team. NW has to reload a ton on the lines on both sides of the ball. Van and Rivers definitely gonna be a deadly backfield combo…and people forget we still have other stud RBs ( Sidney Hairston and Jaden Clunis ) returning that will be in the mix…we also have young stud RBs ( isiah Taylor and Emet Choy ) coming up from JV who also played varsity last year too….Oline is gonna be straight we have 3 returning starters and now we have Mahoney too…pretty sure we will have more recruits on the Oline tho and Dline….Linebackers and DBs is loaded !!! Dual threat QB and Patient pocket QB returning who will both rotate…And our WRs best in the state this year…we will have more transfers coming in too it’s still early we’re only in February

Play where you live and the kids you grow up with. That's called a community. Means more when you do it the right way. 25 years from now when they are telling stories about going to 3 high schools in 4 years they will realize it.

The ‘91 QO championship team had no less than 4 transfers. Nobody cares what schools they went to prior.

As much as we all hate it and think it’s wrong myself included. QO and NW puts kids into big time colleges for football so when other students see that they will find a way to get there and the top kids will certainly find a way with some help from NW/QO admin. Until it stops the rest of the county will always suffer. The saving grace for now was the redoing division and re-seeding during regional titles. Means not all moco teams had to go thru them.

Nah, QO cared about the transfers because the biggest QO boast of their '91 title team was that it was a completely home grown team out of its prior seasons JV squads. I seem to recall one JV team was undefeated back then that won QO's 1st title. There was no QO mention of transfers; just all home developed players so QO cared about their transfers choosing not to mention a word about their brought in status......

And they also had transfers, as did Varsity. Off the top of my head, one came from Bullis. One came from Northern Virginia, and another one came from Connecticut.
