Hard to imagine the Hornets not being in the top mix of 2A. Is Cooley coming back for Damascus? If so he is a great start to a rebound year.

Nah....Damascus is among the top to me, just not the hands beat down favorites as yesteryears when they were feared....

Walkersville Returning Starters: Many play both ways and/or have started at some point during the season.
Eubank WR/DB Ross RB/DB Whitby TE/OLB Amoriell (So) WR/DB Word RB/LB Bennett RB/OLB Boston OL/DL Weinrich OL/DL
The offense will need to replace the QB, which was done by committee this year. Neither of which was very productive. And more importantly 3 on the OL. The good news is they only loss Menconi (WR) form the skill positions.
I see the defense as needing the most improvement. They lose their top difference makers in Gearhart #2 (LB), and Johnson #9 (DE) This defense struggled much of the year. Yes, even though they had 2 big playoff shutouts. They were not physical at times, got worn down at times, and gave up a lot of big plays.

What does the QB situation look like? I agree with you that neither of their guys this year were difference makers, but who is waiting in the wings? Of course, if they go with traditional Polce offense (and why not with Ross and Bennett) they only need a game manager. It is always tough to replace linemen, but IMO Walkersville was average at best at G and C. I thought Boston was a senior! That’s huge to get him back, one of the best lineman in the county who is getting D1 looks.

Somebody was the QB and at least capable. - EDIT: JV QB is Cooper Sinclair. He passes the eye test as he is several inches taller then either QB's this year. Yes, Boston has the making of a next level tackle. Height 6' 5" (?), and could easily be pushing 300 lbs next year and the aggressive attitude. Hope he keep working on the lower body and foot work, the calls will come.

Congratulations to the Stephen Decatur Seahawks and their 2A State Title. A good competitive game! It was a strange year in the 2AW, but for the past 10 years the 2A class has been the most diverse with 8 different schools wining titles. (Middletown/Douglas have 2, each teams titles where 4-5 years a part). Who will it be next year? MMA and Huntingtown should both be really good again. Not sure how SD bounces back with star QB graduating. Walkersville will take a step back IMO, even though Ross and Bennett return. I don’t see HoCo putting anyone into the fold, nor BaltCo except for MMA. I will defer to Tide on what KI and NC return. I would assume Damascus will be good, but that 42-0 loss to Walkersville is hard to shake. SD will return a whole bunch of guys on both sides of the ball, but like you said replacing the QB will be no easy task. They also lose WR/QB Bolden and ILB/WR Solito, who are probably their two biggest playmakers on each side of the ball not named Coleman. KI returned quite a few this year, but by next fall will have cycled through just about everyone who contributed to their state final run last season. They always seem to reload and will have their QB back, but unsure if they'll be a true state level threat. NC graduates their QB but overall probably returns a bit more than KI, including RB/CB Zymear Smith who holds offers from Georgia and Penn State, among others. For the record, both MMA and Huntingtown also lose their QBs to graduation.
