Any Eastern Shore fans hanging around here with some thoughts headed into the season? Lots of coaching changes this offseason, I believe it was five or six in all. Interesting Week 1 slate highlighted by five non-conference matchups:
Snow Hill @ Annapolis Area Christian North Caroline @ Cambridge-SD Colonel Richardson @ Washington Linganore @ Wicomico Bohemia Manor @ Kent County Easton @ North East J.M. Bennett @ Polytech (DE) Kent Island @ Parkside

Mike Bradley's Week 3 Power Poll/Game Notes: linkA full slate of conference matchups on the docket in Week 4, while Washington has a bye week. Undefeated North Caroline travels to Wi-Hi, who looks to avoid a 1-3 start. CSD visits Colonel in what has amounted to the 1A Division title game in recent years, though perhaps 3-0 Snow Hill will be a factor in that this season as well. Thursday 9/21 North Caroline @ Wicomico Friday 9/22 Queen Anne's @ J.M. Bennett Easton @ Kent Island Snow Hill @ Stephen Decatur Cambridge-SD @ Col. Richardson Parkside @ Kent County

Thursday Night Final Score:
North Caroline 14, Wicomico 7
NC is off to a 4-0 start under their new head coach. Wi-Hi falls to 1-3 and will host Kent Island next Thursday, so things won't get any easier.
Friday Night:
Col. Richardson 14, Cambridge-SD 13 Queen Anne's 16, J.M. Bennett 0 Kent Island 35, Easton 0 Stephen Decatur 39, Snow Hill 0 Parkside 55, Kent County 6
Colonel gets a late TD and 2 point conversion to beat CSD for a third straight season, following a 15 season head to head winning streak for CSD that had spanned 2006-2020. KI and SD each move to 4-0. Parkside picks up their first win after a tough start to the year. Weather played a major factor in at least some of the games, with wind gusts over 40mph reported at Decatur.

Mike Bradley's Week 4 Power Poll: linkWeek 5 starts to get into the meat of the conference schedule, especially in the 2A Division. KI and SD take undefeated records on the road tonight and both will be fairly heavy favorites. Parkside-Bennett on Friday has the potential to be a competitive game, with the JMB program in the best shape it's been in since pre-covid. Homecoming at QA wraps things up on Saturday afternoon. NC at 4-0 is not an average homecoming opponent, so look for that one to perhaps be the best game of the week. Thursday 9/28 Kent Island @ Wicomico Stephen Decatur @ Easton Friday 9/29 Parkside @ J.M. Bennett Kent County @ Cambridge-SD Washington @ Snow Hill Saturday 9/30 North Caroline @ Queen Anne's Col. Richardson @ Lancaster (VA)

Thursday Night Final Scores:
Kent Island 28, Wicomico 0 Stephen Decatur 42, Easton 0
KI and SD both move to 5-0. This sets up a potential Bayside game of the year candidate next Friday night, as the Bucs host the Seahawks in Stevensville. Wi-Hi and Easton each fall to 1-4. Easton hasn't scored a point in three weeks, and has only tallied a single field goal since a Week 1 rout of North East. The typical high-flying Warrior offense seems to have been hit very hard by injuries/graduations.

Any reason not to assume North Caroline is the weakest of the 3 unbeatens given they only beat Wicomico 14-7?

Any reason not to assume North Caroline is the weakest of the 3 unbeatens given they only beat Wicomico 14-7? We won't have to wait long to find out, because the three teams play a round robin with one another over the next three weeks. North Caroline has a first year head coach after the retirement of long time HC James McCormick, so they're a bit of an unknown in that regard. If you use last season's results as a starting point, NC certainly has more to prove than the other two. They returned a lot of guys on both sides of the ball from a team that was inconsistent a year ago, but as a playoff underdog blew Easton out on Easton's home field, and then gave Decatur a solid game the following week. They're always strong defensively, and this year seems to be no different. What may set KI and SD apart is the passing game. SD has been known for that under their present coaching staff, but KI has been throwing the ball quite a bit so far too, something they were never known for in the past.

With all three of these teams, especially KI and SD, it may very well be the East’s year in the 2A!
