Friday Night Scores:
J.M. Bennett 22, Parkside 21 Snow Hill 41, Washington 0 Cambridge-SD 52, Kent County 0
JMB gets a field goal at the buzzer to beat Parkside for the first time since 2018. Snow Hill improves to 4-1 under first year HC Hammond, marking their largest win total since 2012.
Saturday Scores:
North Caroline 28, Queen Anne's 16 Lancaster (VA) 32, Col. Richardson 30
North Caroline improves to 5-0, spoils Homecoming at Queen Anne's. NC led 14-3 at half, before QA fought back for a 16-14 lead in the 3rd. Bulldogs scored the final 14, sealing the deal on a pick six with around 5 minutes to play. QA falls to 2-3 but will be favored in their next three games, before the annual season finale with KI.

Mike Bradley's Week 5 Power Poll: link
For the first time all season every team in the Bayside is in action on Friday night of Week 6, with no Thursday or Saturday games scheduled. The main event is the battle of unbeatens in Stevensville. On paper this should be an excellent game, but the onus will be on Decatur to prove it, as they have not won at Kent Island since back to back victories in 2006 and 2007. They've not beaten the Bucs anywhere at all since 2008, a total of 13 straight wins for KI in the head to head series. Elsewhere, Snow Hill-Colonel is the marquee matchup in the 1A Division, with Colonel having the chance to all but seal up another Bayside 1A title. North Caroline looks to stay perfect against a resurgent JMB, as dates with SD and KI loom. Wi-Hi-CSD and Easton-Parkside could each provide competitive games as well. Friday 10/6 Stephen Decatur @ Kent Island Snow Hill @ Col. Richardson J.M. Bennett @ North Caroline Wicomico @ Cambridge-SD Easton @ Parkside Queen Anne's @ Kent County Arcadia (VA) @ Washington

Friday Night Scores:
Stephen Decatur 33, Kent Island 15 North Caroline 57, J.M. Bennett 20 Cambridge-SD 28, Wicomico 14 Col. Richardson 55, Snow Hill 28 Parkside 14, Easton 9 Queen Anne's 56, Kent County 12 Arcadia (VA) 23, Washington 8
The battle of unbeatens goes the way of the Seahawks. Decatur jumped out to a 17-0 lead by the close of the 1st quarter, but unsurprisingly the Bucs battled back in front of the home crowd and went into halftime down just 17-12. SD largely controlled things from there, with KI mustering only a late 3rd quarter field goal to again draw within one score at 23-15. The nail in the coffin came on a 46 yard TD strike from Coleman to Bolden with about 6 minutes to play in the game. It was KI's first defeat on their home field since a 2021 State Quarterfinal loss to eventual 2A champ Douglass-PG. It was their first home loss in a regular season game since the covid spring season of 2021.
North Caroline scored 36 second half points to blow away JMB in what was a 21-13 game at half on Homecoming in Ridgely. This sets up yet another matchup of undefeated teams, as 6-0 NC travels to 6-0 SD next Friday night. Other Week 6 headlines included CSD beating a 2A for the second time this season, and Colonel powering past Snow Hill to essentially seal up the 1A Division title for a third straight year.

Mike Bradley's Week 6 Power Poll: link For the second week in a row the top of the card features a pair of teams with perfect records. It's homecoming for Decatur, who is coming off arguably their best regular season win in over a decade. North Caroline rides into town off their own homecoming win, and will look to spoil the party yet again after already ruining homecoming at QA a couple weeks back. Seems like a possible trap game setup for SD, but they had NC for homecoming last year as well and narrowly escaped with a two point win after a 4th quarter comeback, so they should have their guard up. SD has won the previous three meetings in this series, including a second round playoff game a year ago, after five straight NC wins spanning 2015-2019. Elsewhere, CSD travels to Snow Hill with a chance to move into the 1A East drivers seat. It'll be the first time these two teams have met with each sporting four or more victories since a 2012 first round playoff game. Look for KI to get back on track against JMB, ahead of a Week 8 trip to Ridgely. Easton will need to upset QA to avoid a sixth straight loss. KC-WSH will be the best chance for both squads to avoid winless seasons. Thursday 10/12 Wicomico @ Parkside Friday 10/13 North Caroline @ Stephen Decatur Cambridge-SD @ Snow Hill J.M. Bennett @ Kent Island Queen Anne's @ Easton Kent County @ Washington Col. Richardson @ Nandua (VA)

Thursday Night Final:
Parkside 10, Wicomico 0
Parkside returned the opening kickoff for the only touchdown of the night, improving to 3-4 on the year. Wi-Hi drops to 1-6 and has lost five in a row. They were shutout for the second time in three weeks, and third time this season overall. It's the first time the Indians have lost this many games since a 4-6 finish in 2017.

Friday Night Finals:
Stephen Decatur 44, North Caroline 20 Cambridge-SD 52, Snow Hill 6 Queen Anne's 35, Easton 6 Kent County 24, Washington 14 Nandua (VA) 21, Col. Richardson 15
Seahawks pound the previously unbeaten Bulldogs, and it was not as close as the score might indicate, as North Caroline had no success matching up with Decatur's weapons on the outside. SD led 30-7 at halftime, and 44-7 by the end of the 3rd before clearing the benches. With the heavyweights on their schedule behind them, SD now sits comfortably in the drivers seat for the 2A East top seed, and likely the 1 or 2 seed in 2A overall. NC will need to regroup quickly, as they host Kent Island next Friday night in a game that will likely determine the #2 seed in the region, and specifically home field advantage in a likely Week 11 rematch between the two.
Cambridge destroys Snow Hill and takes control of the 1A East, at least for the moment. The top seed in that region looks to ultimately come down to how CSD and Bo Manor finish up over the next two weeks. SH has lost four of five after starting the season 3-0. QA has won four of five after an 0-2 start. KC gets their first and likely only win, while WSH hits the 14 point mark for the first time since September of 2019. Baby steps under the new HC for the Jags, but it's something for a program that has struggled to even field a team at times since covid. Colonel gets upset on the road and drops to 3-4.
Saturday Afternoon:
Kent Island 61, J.M. Bennett 34

Mike Bradley's Week 7 Power Poll: linkWeek 8 brings five Thursday night matchups as school is closed on Friday in most/all counties. Kent Island (6-1) at North Caroline (6-1) is the headliner, with the winner having the inside track to the #2 seed in the 2A East, and with it home field advantage in a possible Week 11 rematch between the two. Elsewhere, QA has the chance to lock in a top four seed in the region if they can get past Parkside at home. SD should have no issue stretching Wi-Hi's losing streak to six. Colonel will look to get back to .500 before their Week 9 meeting with NC. Snow Hill can lock in their first winning season since 2012 with a victory. Friday night will be Easton's final chance to avoid going winless in division play, and CSD should run their winning streak to four against winless Washington. Thursday 10/19 Kent Island @ North Caroline Parkside @ Queen Anne's Stephen Decatur @ Wicomico Kent County @ Col. Richardson Northampton (VA) @ Snow Hill Friday 10/20 Easton @ J.M. Bennett Washington @ Cambridge-SD

Thursday Night Finals:
North Caroline 21, Kent Island 14 Queen Anne's 17, Parkside 0 Stephen Decatur 41, Wicomico 10 Col. Richardson 57, Kent County 8 Northampton (VA) 34, Snow Hill 28
NC bounces back from last weeks blowout loss to pull off what many will consider an upset over KI. It's the Bulldogs first win over the Bucs since the covid spring of 2021, snapping KI's three-game head to head winning streak. NC's Zymear Smith scored all three Caroline TD's, beginning with a 90yd TD run, followed moments later by a 30yd pick six, and finally an 82yd receiving TD. KI fell behind 14-0 after the first two Smith scores, and they never climbed all the way back. One bizarre note, all 35 points were scored in the 2nd quarter. NC is now 7-1, while KI falls to 6-2.
Other headlines: QA goes to 5-3 with their third straight win. They host KI in the War on the Shore next Friday. SD moves to 8-0 for what is reportedly the first time in school history. Colonel gets back to .500 at 4-4. Snow Hill drops to 4-4 with their third straight loss.
Friday Night Finals:
J.M. Bennett 35, Easton 16 Cambridge-SD 54, Washington 6
JMB picks up their third win of the season. Easton goes winless in division play, having lost to each of the other seven Bayside 2A schools over the past seven weeks. CSD wins their fourth in a row to go to 6-2.

Mike Bradley's Post Week 8 Power Poll: link
There's a full schedule of rivalry games on the way in Week 9. While the week has lost a bit of luster thanks to the open playoff format, there should still be a few competitive games. As in most years the War on the Shore between KI and QA gets top billing. The two squads appear all but locked into the 3 and 4 spots in the 2A East, so it's mainly bragging rights that are on the line in this years addition. KI has dominated the series in recent years, winning the last six in a row. QA was the big brother throughout the 2000's, but things began to turn around 2012, and KI has had the upper hand in large part ever since. Bennett can claim their first Salisbury city title since 2018 if they're able to get past a Wi-Hi squad that has lost six straight. CSD has a good chance to pick up their first win over Easton since 2018. Easton has won two straight in that series, but the two sides did not meet in 2020 or 2021 due primarily to covid issues if memory serves. Colonel hosts North Caroline in another addition of the rivalry that used to be referred to as the Superintendent's Cup. The Colonels last beat the Bulldogs in 2002, and that was their only victory in the series over the last 40 years. NC ran off an 18 game winning streak spanning 1984-2001, and has won an additional 20 straight from 2003-present. Last year was the most competitive game in recent memory, with Colonel falling by a narrow 14-7 margin in Ridgely. Parkside travels to SD for a game that has replaced the traditional Decatur-Snow Hill rivalry week matchup, which had not been competitive whatsoever over the last decade and was moved to an earlier week on the schedule. Prior to the last ten years, SD-SH could be counted on to deliver a hotly contested game annually. SH will instead travel to Kent County, and has a chance to lock in their first home playoff game since 2009 if they're able to beat the Trojans and get help from NC defeating CR. Thursday 10/26 J.M. Bennett @ Wicomico Nandua (VA) @ Washington Friday 10/27 Kent Island @ Queen Anne's Parkside @ Stephen Decatur North Caroline @ Col. Richardson Cambridge-SD @ Easton Snow Hill @ Kent County

Thursday Night Finals:
Wicomico 21, J.M. Bennett 7 Nandua (VA) 33, Washington 0
Wi-Hi snaps their six game losing streak, finishes up 2-7 overall. JMB falls to 3-6, but that's still their largest win total since 2019. Washington finishes 0-8.

Friday Night Finals:
Kent Island 30, Queen Anne's 0 North Caroline 35, Col. Richardson 0 Cambridge-SD 13, Easton 0 (Game called midway through the 3rd due to multiple fights in the stands...) Stephen Decatur 50, Parkside 14 Snow Hill 47, Kent County 6
Rivalry week was overall a giant bust for anyone hoping for a tight game or two. CSD-Easton was the closest of the bunch but unfortunately that game was called early due to multiple altercations involving fans. KI shut out QA on the Lions home field. NC shut out Colonel on the on Colonels home field. Snow Hill ran the clock in Worton. Parkside at least got on the scoreboard a couple times in the 1st half, making Decatur have to play through most of the 3rd before the clock ran.
SD, NC, KI, QA are locked into spots 1-4 in the 2A East respectively. CSD will be the 2 seed in the 1A East, and it appears Snow Hill's win will vault them into the 3 seed over Bo Manor and Colonel. SD finishes the regular season undefeated for the first time in program history, and also claim their first Bayside 2A Division title since 2004. Colonel locked up their third straight 1A Division title weeks ago with a tight victory over CSD, but they'll actually finish 3 games back of the Vikings in terms of overall record.
Bayside Final Standings:
2A Division 1. SD 9-0 (7-0) 2. NC 8-1 (6-1) 3. KI 7-2 (5-2) 4. QA 5-4 (4-3) 5. JMB 3-6 (2-5) 6. PKS 3-6 (2-5) 7. WIC 2-7 (2-5) 8. EAS 1-8 (0-7)
1A Division 1. CR 4-5 (4-0) 2. CSD 7-2 (3-1) 3. SH 5-4 (2-2) 4. KC 1-8 (1-3) 5. WSH 0-8 (0-4)

1st Round regional matchups are all set. Four of the seven games involving Bayside schools will take place on Thursday night. For the most part the outcomes should be straightforward in favor of the home teams. Not surprisingly the two best games on the slate would appear to be both 4 vs 5 seed matchups.
Bo Manor vs. Colonel is a rematch of a 14-13 ballgame in the opening round of the playoffs a year ago. The Eagles escaped Federalsburg with a win that night, so the Colonel's will be looking to return the favor this year in Chesapeake City. Massey shows it as another tight one, making Colonel a 1-point road favorite.
The other one to maybe keep an eye on is Bennett at Queen Anne's. JMB's record is somewhat deceiving, in that the only games that really got away from them were against SD, NC, and KI. Massey has QA as a 26 point favorite, but that seems a little bit aggressive considering the regular season matchup between the two was a 16-0 ballgame back in September that was 3-0 at the half. The Lions are stout enough defensively, but have struggled all year to really get the offense going. If the Clippers playmakers can find the endzone a couple times they may give themselves a chance late.
Thursday 11/2
1A East: #2 Cambridge-SD (6-2) vs. #7 Washington (0-8) #3 Snow Hill (5-4) vs. #6 Kent County (1-8)
2A East: #4 Queen Anne's (5-4) vs. #5 J.M. Bennett (3-6)
Friday 11/3
1A East: #4 Bohemia Manor (5-4) vs. #5 Col. Richardson (4-5)
2A East: #1 Stephen Decatur (9-0) vs. #8 Easton (1-7) #2 North Caroline (8-1) vs. #7 Wicomico (3-6) #3 Kent Island (7-2) vs. #6 Parkside (3-6)

Thursday Night Finals
2A East: Queen Anne's 49, J.M. Bennett 7
1A East: Kent County 34, Snow Hill 18 Cambridge-SD 51, Washington 6
Any thought that JMB could hang around with QA was out the door quickly last night, as the Lions led 21-0 after one quarter and were never threatened. It's the first playoff win for QA since 2010, snapping an eight game playoff losing streak, which is a stat that's a little hard to believe given the overall competitiveness of the program. QA improves to 6-4, and awaits a likely trip to top seed SD next week, pending the results of tonight's games. JMB finishes up at 3-7.
The surprise of the night was in Snow Hill. In a rematch of the two teams Week 9 matchup, the 6-seed Trojans won by two scores a mere six days after being crushed 47-6 on their home field. Massey showed KC catching 24.5 points, so that has to be one of the biggest first round misses for that algorithm anywhere in the state. KC went up 14-0 early on and Snow Hill was never able to get things flipped back around. The Eagles were missing their starting QB, but that was the case last week as well and the backup filled in just fine by tossing 5 TD passes. In any case, Kent County gets their second win of the season, as well as their first playoff win since 2016. Snow Hill finishes at 5-5, which is their most wins in a season since 2012.
CSD dominates Washington for the second time in three weeks. The Vikings improve to 8-2 and will host Kent County next week. The Jags finish 0-9, but the season was at least a step in the right direction under the new HC given that it was a true on the field 0-9, rather than having several forfeits like they did a year ago which had many wondering whether the varsity program had a future.

Friday Night Finals
2A East: North Caroline 26, Wicomico 6 Kent Island 46, Parkside 7 Stephen Decatur 49, Easton 7
1A East: Bohemia Manor 12, Col. Richardson 7
A few more opening round snoozers on Friday night. Wi-Hi kept the clock from running in Ridgely, but that's something they've generally done all season outside the Linganore and Decatur games. North Caroline was never truly threatened. The Bulldogs improve to 9-1. If you exclude the covid spring it's the fifth consecutive season that NC has won at least one playoff round, and if you go back to 2015 they've won at least one playoff game in seven of eight years. The one year that's missing they fielded probably their best team of the bunch. Go figure. Wi-Hi finishes finishes up at 2-8, their lowest win total since 2015.
Both KI and SD rolled. They improve to 8-2 and 10-0 respectively. Parkside finishes up 3-7, their lowest win total since 2012. Easton ends the year 1-9, which is the Warriors lowest win total since 2010. KI will travel to NC next Friday, in a rematch of the two teams Week 8 meeting that the Bulldogs won 21-14. Decatur will host Queen Anne's in what will be the first official game played between the two this season. They were supposed to meet in Week 1, but QA forfeited the contest due to offseason practice violations.
In 1A action, Colonel led most of the night, but ultimately fell to Bo Manor in the opening round for the second straight year. The Colonels finish up 4-6 overall. It's the first time they've failed to win at least five games since 2016. Oddly, they went a perfect 4-0 against Bayside 1A division foes, which includes CSD, but winless in their other six games.
