Themamba. If LINGANORE plays 5 more games, makes it to the states and Arneson averages 200 ypg, where will he be on the All time career rushing record? Tks in advance. Do some math.... potential of 10 games remaining, currently at 4477 MPSSAA All-Time Career Rushing Yards 1 7,962 Tavon Austin (Dunbar ‘09) 2 6,354 Wande Owens (Glenelg ‘19) 3 5,920 Ben Tate (Decatur/Snow Hill ‘06) 4 5,848 Dalonte Waters (Parkside ‘14) 5 5,650 Isiaha Smith (South Hagerstown ‘14) 6 5,554 Jake Funk (Damascus ‘16) 7 5,540 Terry Caulley (Patuxent ‘02) 8 5,474 Raekwon Gray (Urbana ‘15) 9 5,258 Marques Cooper (Quince Orchard ‘20) 10 5,253 Ryan Callahan (Old Mill ‘06) 11 5,237 DeRon Ames (Snow Hill ‘10) 12 5,227 Walter Cross (Oxon Hill ‘98) 13 5,139 Crusoe Gongsby (Rockville ‘11) 14 5,133 Morgan Green (Lackey ‘05) 15 5,095 Rafael Wall (Wilde Lake ‘91) 16 4,987 Josh Page (Fort Hill ‘98) 17 4,720 Tyree Foreman (Sherwood ‘97) 18 4,712 Mike Campanaro (River Hill ‘09) 19 4,672 Ali Culpepper (Dunbar ‘97) 20 4,650 Marcus Whalen (Thomas Stone ‘00) Just checking with a pro

Wow! Did Travis Austin run all 4 years? His record seems beyond reach.

Provided he stays healthy, and the Lancers advance at least to the state semifinals, Arneson will finish in the top five of all-time. He would need to average 131 over nine games. He’s averaging far more than that through four games, so it’s possible he moves into the top five before the post-season begins.
Arneson has been on a tear this season, rushing for 774 yards and 14 touchdowns through four games. At this pace, and projected at ten more games (title game), Arneson would finish with 2,709 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns.
Arneson not only became the Lancers all-time leading rusher in week four, he joined the 50 career touchdown club. As it stands, Arneson is 21 touchdowns away from breaking Ray Gray’s Frederick County career touchdown mark of 70.

Wow! Did Travis Austin run all 4 years? His record seems beyond reach. Yes, and yes. The only player to rush for more than 1,500 yards in all four of his seasons.

Working with the 251 unofficial yards on Friday night.
I talked to Coach Conner on Friday night, and though he didn’t have an official total, I did find out his two favorite movies of all-time are ‘Brian’s Song and ‘Billy Jack’. He also shared his fond memories of playing with MoCo great Eric Smith in flag football at Georgetown, after the former Western Maryland defensive back and returner’s playing days were over. Coach Conner always has great conversation.
Linganore’s Ethan Arneson is skyrocketing up the MPSSAA’s career all-time rushing yards and touchdowns lists.
Friday, Arneson led the visiting Lancers to a 49-35 victory over Frederick, rushing for 251 yards and four touchdowns. In doing so, Arneson surpassed two former greats on the all-time rushing yards list - River Hill’s Mike Campanaro and Sherwood’s Tyree Foreman, to move to 17th on the all-time list, and just 40 yards from the ‘5,000 yard club’.
Arneson could very well pass another eight former greats over the next two games, and move into the top ten all-time, with the regular season finale and the post-season still outstanding.
With 180 yards next game, Arneson would vault Fort Hill’s Josh Page, Wilde Lake’s Rafael Wall, Lackey’s Morgan Green, and Rockville’s Charles Gongsby, to move to 13th after week seven. Another 180 in week eight and Arneson would catapult Oxon Hill’s Walter Cross, Snow Hill’s DaRon Ames, Old Mill’s Ryan Callahan, and Quince Orchard’s Marques Cooper, to ninth place on the all-time list.
Next in the crosshairs, in week nine, would be the Frederick County all-time rushing yards mark of 5,474, held by Urbana’s Ray Gray. With 360 yards over the next two games, Arneson would be 154 yards from Gray’s mark. With 400 over the next two games, just short of his average, Arneson would be 114 yards short of Gray’s record.
If Arneson were to match his per game mark this season over the last three regular season games, Arneson will have not only surpassed Gray, but Patuxent’s Terry Caulley and Damascus’ Jake Funk too, putting him at 6th on the all-time list, with potentially five post-season games remaining. (I project the Lancers to be in the 3A title game, v Oakdale, albeit blind from the seedings at this point.)
At 5,500-5,600 entering the post-season, South Hagerstown’s Ish Smith’s fifth place all-time mark of 5,650 would be in jeopardy in the first round of the playoffs, followed by the fourth place mark of 5,848 by Parkside’s Dalonte Waters in the second round. At 180 per over the next five games (final three regular season, regional playoffs), Arneson would be at 5,860, just ahead of Waters, and just behind Bayside great Ben Tate, who finished with 5,920.
Whether it’s the second round or quarterfinal, Arneson will be approaching the 6,000 yard plateau, where only two other former MPSSAA greats have ever ascended to - Dunbar’s Tavon Austin and Glenelg’s Wande Owens. Owens mark of 6,354 is certainly in the realm of possibility for Arneson, while Austin’s astronomic total of 7,962 is not.
At a conservative measure of 180 yards per game (14% below his average), and in a scenario where the Lancers were upset in the semifinals, Arneson will still break the 6,000 yard barrier, with 6,010. At 180 per over the maximum amount of games of eight, Arneson would sit at a cool 6,400, and #2 all-time.
Arneson likes to score too, with 21 on the season, and 13 in the last three games. Arneson has now scored 57 career touchdowns, and ranks fifth all-time in Frederick County, and tied for 25th in MPSSAA history.
Arneson is 13 touchdowns short of Gray’s county record of 70. Arneson passed Middletown’s Carson Smith for fifth place with his fourth touchdown on Friday night. Arneson is four short of former Lancers great Matt Castor and six shy of former Catoctin legend Carson Sickeri, for third on the county list. Next would be former Middletown star Matt Keeney’s total of 66, which Arneson is nine away from now. Arneson very well could reach that mark before the post-season. Ten would give Arneson 67 entering the post-season, and place him 15th on the all-time list.
Another 20 touchdowns over eight possible games would put Arneson in tenth place all-time on the MPSSAA career touchdowns list. That average would be 2.5 scores per game - Arneson is averaging 3.5 per. At 3.5 per over eight games, that would give him 49 touchdowns this season, and give him 85 for his career, which would tie South Hagerstown’s Smith for seventh all-time. Three more touchdowns (3.9 per) would place Arneson at fourth all-time.

He’s been fun to watch. I’ve seen three of the Lancers six games - v Walkersville, Oakdale, and Friday versus the Cadets. The Lancers are real solid. They won’t be able to get away with giving up 35 if they want to run the table, but one thing the Cadets can do is score. You can’t even kick to Essiam. I will note, when Petruzzello is making plays with his arm and his legs like he did the other night, the Lancers offense becomes a bit too much for the opponents. Even the better ones. Hence, 49 points by the offense.

Through seven games. Arneson is at 1,291 rushing yards and scored a MPSSAA-best 21 touchdowns.
