Varsity didn’t know. They don’t care what jv does. They are worried about doing their job. It’s sad that some idiot transfer could come in and ruin everything we have all in the community built. For everyone to think dmass is like everyone else and they go get transfers etc. no one that has grew up in system likes it when new guys come in and don’t know how to be a part of something bigger then themselves. The decision this kid made is on him. He was selfish and it would be a shame to see the whole community go down for something an outsider did. Someone that didn’t go through the grind that the rest of us did ruins it. That’s the shame. The win streak isn’t the only streak that’s up for stakes. The playoff streak might be just as impressive. And that streak isn’t something these kids built they kept it going like we all did. You cat just say it was the one player fault that he did this. If a transfer is able to come into a team like this and bring his own culture into a team like dmass then theirs a issue. Regardless of that its very unlikely a one person thing or three people, a football team is a family they know everything about each other and to say that it was one player or three or just the jv is crazy. I hope they look further into this Trying to protect varsity's win streak...

How about blaming the kid who committed the CRIME!! Bottom line, as a coach, you can't imagine your kid doing something so despicable. I was a crime, the kid made the choice to commit a crime, and he is the one who should be held responsible. If you can show that the program in anyway condoned this behavior, or if you hade repeated incidences of bullying behavior, THEN you can hold a coach accountable. It sounds like the CRIME was reported immediately, and that the staff and school turned it over to the police immediately. As a head coach, I can't fathom one of my kids doing that to another person. The coaches could have been in the locker room, doing laundry, fixing equipment, talking with another player. I don't know how the football locker room at Damascus is set up, but coaches don't stand there and watch kids get dressed. I feel very badly for the victim of this CRIME. I hope the perpetrator is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Unfortunately, not all crimes can be prevented. very similar situation to UMD, to be honest. Like I said before, not the coaches fault, no one is saying that, but definitely on the coaches' watch. Doesn't matter if they're a multimillionaire pro coach or a 12k stipend (ha! Wish it was that much) coach, still their responsibility to maintain the students health and wellness. In that, they most definitely failed.

At Maryland, the head coach hires the perpetrator. The whole culture of the program was investigated. At Maryland, the trainer and ultimately, the head coach, were fired for the lack of action after the incident. Here it seems like there was a quick and appropriate response to the situation. Again, you can’t plan for every bad thing that could possibly happen.

Wow this is getting hard to read. Why wait for anything to come out when we have so many people in the "know"....please.Why don't we just get all of our info from our Youtube message board detective or wait for another guy to get a text with all the info we need. This act is horrific and inexcusable, trust adults in the school system and law enforcement to deal with it appropriately. Don't use it as justification for your hatred of Damascus program. That comes off as petty and childish

They are also saying in thos thread that MCPS is responsible for this for allowing "violent kids" transfer from school to school, next they will say build that wall arou d Damascus to keep the "violent kids" and "outsider" out of their community lol smh...this mess needs to get cleared up and fast, not fair to the players who were not involved.

JV Head Coach shouldnt even be there in the first place. Crooked businessman who has been sued dozens of times and rips off his own employees.

What happened at Damascus is incredibly sad and alarming, but please do not compare it to the tragic incident at UMD. A player died. I get what you're saying. But don't compare this situation to that tragedy. Also please be mindful and attentive when discussing this issue. The Board is a terrific outlet for football, community, and civil discourse...but civil discourse isn't name-dropping minors and spreading rumor after rumor (even if they are true). If it's that bad, take it to a higher ground. Not here. And for the ones trying to leverage this sad incident to tear down the entire Damascus football program, get a life. Somebody needs to be held accountable here but these aren't professionals and we're dealing with children. Let the facts unfold before speculating. My two cents...

My kids will go to Damascus. Both coaches and the AD should be suspended and probably fired.

Been a proud resident of damascus my whole life, all 26 years. Wear damascus gear to work like clockwork every Friday, football season or offseason. Everybody who looks at me and knows me can see that I love everything about my hometown. After letting everything digest for a day or so.. I will say that today was the first time in a while that I questioned what to wear on a Friday. I ended up going with damascus gear anyway, but today’s the first day in a long time that I questioned my damascus pride. It’s really hard to digest that something this cruel occurred right down the street. This incident is one of the most disgusting things I’ve heard in a long time. We’ll see when other details come out, but regardless I feel for the player who had to go through this.

I’m hearing from former students and teachers of DMass that hazing like this has been happening at Damascus for years

There is no way an incident like this occurs and the HEAD VARSITY COACH as well as JV are not held accountable as well as those involved

At least four different victims? What the hell was going on? This detail makes me think it was more systemic

Four kids were raped with a foreign object in your locker room. You're an adult. This is your program. Your job is to protect children from happening. This was FOUR KIDS.
