One of MoCo's all time greats, Kevin McLinton passed away this week. Kevin was known more for his prowess on the basketball court at Springbrook and later at Maryland, but he also had an outstanding senior year on the gridiron in the 1988 season.
Kevin helped lead Springbrook to the 1988 state title. It was his only year playing the sport, but he made his mark for the Blue Devils. Kevin caught the game winning touchdown in the state semifinals vs. Friendly as time expired. A week later, he scored three touchdowns in the state championship win over Churchill (42-26) - catches of 46 and 54 yards and a 99 yard interception return.
Kevin also started on the 1988 state championship basketball team at Springbrook and then scored 20 points per game as a senior in the 1989 season. He later played for the Terps.
A true legend at Springbrook and in MoCo, gone too soon.
