What a fun time this is for Frederick County, specifically new market! The two top dogs playing for all of the marbles. I would love some early thoughts on this matchup of two programs that know each other very well.
The bears are a lot to deal with, obviously. You have the star power, but I’m not familiar with them in the same way I am with the lancers.
The lancers are clicking at just the right time. Arneson is Arneson, but Petruzzello raising him game to another level has given this team the passing threat that they need. He played his best game tonight vs Northern.
I do think Oakdale should be favored, but I think the gap between these teams is close. In a win or go home environment, anything can happen.

Lancers have made some nice leaps at QB and WR. DB's are flying around making plays. Lancers will need to control the clock limiting the Bears opportunities. Put me in coach.

I'm not gonna try to tell you who's gonna win this thing, cause i have no idea. But i have seen just about every Linganore game, either live or on film, and i have seen many of the Oakdale games including the one iwasthere for tonight. And it seems to me that Linganore is the team that has improved the most over the course of the season; while at the same time acknowledging Oakdale was indeed the better team when they squared off head to head waaay back in September. An Oakdale coach told me a few weeks ago that Linganore was the ONLY team in 3a that they were worried about, and now here we are. Cheers, Coach!

It’s been states or bust for oakdale since the start of the season. 4 star DE, 3 star qb/wr, 3 star wr. A loss is a massive failure.
However, the Lancers are playing their best football right now! This should be a slug fest.

Should be an awesome game, kudos to both coaching staffs and players for getting this far!

I’m an Allegany County homer, but I have followed the success of Frederick County football and players since the days of Chuck Foreman.
I’m going with Linganore in the championship game.
While some will argue Oakdale soundly beat the third best 1A team in Allegany County early this season 41-24, the Campers held onto the football for all but about 8 seconds in the third quarter of that game. The QB for the Bears was quoted in the Frederick Post that the Campers “wasted” the whole third quarter. No, the 1A Campers controlled the entire third quarter by keeping their offense on the field. If Linganore can do the same in fits and spurts, they will keep the high-powered Oakdale offense off the field.
Keep in mind, too, 1A Fort Hill kept the Bears’ offense off the field in ‘21 and in ‘22 as the Sentinels won by scores of 42-7 and 49-23. The same high-quality and dangerous QB currently behind center for the Bears started in both those games. The Fort Hill offense kept the Bears’ offense off the field.
Linganore can’t get in a shootout with the Bears in the championship game.
To win, the Lancers will need to control the clock by the run game with long sustained drives.

Alleghany did waste most of 3rd quarter in that game by keeping it on the ground and settling for a few yards at a time when they were already far behind. The Bears, of course, where happy to let them do that. I'd say QB has a higher football IQ than a lot of the posters on this board. LOL. Fort Hill people will still be talking about beating Oakdale back in '22 ten years from now. Must be a really big deal out there.

It is a big deal for a 1A team to beat a 3A power in ‘21 and ‘22 by substantial margins. I’m not hear to get in a ****** match with anyone. I am simply speaking the truth. Both Fort Hill and Allegany know the best way to keep a high-powered offense off the field is by way of long-sustained drives by their own offense. End of story!

Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. I just don't think running-out the clock on yourself when you're already 3 scores behind is very smart football. ...unless you're just trying to get back on the bus bus as quickly as possible.

They can't put a running clock on you if you keep the clock running.

In the 4 seasons since the playoff format changed, three of them have ended with an all-3A West final (and the one year it didn't happen the two 3A West teams met in the semis).
