State appearances are rare. Spare me how many your school has done or you yourself, for the overwhelming majority this unimaginable. This week a few more will get the feel of practicing on Thanksgiving Day, which is something I personally never got to experience. (my son did twice ) It has a certain specialness or nostalgia for the few that ever get this experience. For all those boys that get the opportunity to experience these moments, i give you a small piece of advice from an old head that played too many years. Don't hurry through them. Take some time to look around, hear the sounds, smell the air ... you will cherish the clear memories of these moments in the years to come. If by chance you get to walk out that tunnel in Annapolis (or Raven Stadium) I will tell you the same thing, take in all in, enjoy it! Some Semi-Final stats: Huntington is 2-6 all time in SF. Last time was 2021. They are 0-2 in the finals with last appearance in 2012 in 3A. Walkersville is 5-1 all time in SF. Last time was 2016. They are 2-3 in the finals with last appearance in 2016, 2A Champs.

Practice on Thanksgiving is the goal each year. Surrounded by Alumni whom live close by or are in town for the holiday... hard to beat. I've been told from some whom are attending; from a duck blind to Lancer practice - priceless.

There will be NO Cool 1450 WTHU broadcast of the Walkersville game. Guess the Lion fans will have to make the drive! I had friends who went to the North Caroline game a few years back, they didn’t regret making that trip!

I was in line an hour before the gates opened to get 1 of the 300(?) bleacher seats. There was a back gate for the field parking lot that got to the bleachers first. Sorry, different times, different priorities.

If it is another 42-0 today, wonderful. But if it is a last second field goal like NC in 2015, more wonderful.
I do expect Lion nation to travel well today. Not like 15'-16' but well. Student buses and carpools are all over media.

Safe travels to all those making the trek to Huntingtown. The Lions have made us all proud, no matter what they do from here on out. But damn I hope they can pull this one out.
As for me, I think I might go to Oakdale and watch the Bears put a running clock on City in the first half; and then cruise across town to watch the second half of what should be a more competitive game at LHS.

I’ve got a car full of good ol boys heading down to southern Maryland. Was debating it, but I’m pretty confident we will be seeing Linganore-Oakdale next week so I’ll catch them in Annapolis. Good luck everyone!

Yea, I can see them both next week, but tonight it's the Lancers.

Maybe the good ole boyz crying all over each other in the back seat of the car will block the rear view mirror image of the celebrating rabid Huntingtown fans as you depart southern MD Death Valley Huntingtown. Now jokes aside, it should be good entertaining game as I am torn between seeing Dunbar-Patuxent, Stephen Decatur-Milford Mill, and Walkersville-Huntingtown.

I don't remember seeing a lot of stands at Dunbar, but I just drive by the field going somewhere else. How is the seating?

Side note, Huntingtown people were the nicest home crowd I’ve ever experienced.
