Is Douglass that or is McNamara just a bad private school when it comes to football?

Douglass has ALWAYS been a solid very well coached team I have never seen have a so-called "down" or mediocre season or years, even when they had mediocre players in my opinion. I am not surprised that Douglass played well against Mac and in fact had Mac down 15 - 0 in the 2nd quarter. Didn't Douglass beat Mac last year? Mac is also a good team this season under the excellent sophomore coaching of Greg Calhoun. Mac this season undefeated at 5 and 0 is not Mac of last year or for several years back.
I was at the game and clearly Douglass ran out of gas with its players going both ways against Mac's 80-plus player offense - defense - special teams platoons. I even noticed that Douglass shifted its starter QB to RB when the Douglass RBs were both out for the rest of the game I think. The Douglass QB who is a very little 5'7" 135lbs 10th-grader according to the roster ran a beautiful belly pull 50-yard TD that no Mac player on the field nor anyone in the stands including me knew he had the ball until he was freely dashing toward the endzone and scored. And that smallest kid on the field threw two on the mark long TD passes. But on the Douglass depth matter, I even heard a Douglass parent comment that his son was playing a position he hadn't played much because a starter and backup were down. And I specifically watched that kid for a couple plays as the coaches and players were telling him on the spot were to position and how to play.
standeeman, it was simply a good game but one could clearly see Mac slowly taking control after they were knocked to their knees. Oh, and the game was 27-21!

Is Douglass that or is McNamara just a bad private school when it comes to football? A bit of both honestly. Like last poster mentioned Douglass shutout McNamara last year 14-0. This year Douglass squad is a bit younger, but they're always well coached. However depth is an issue for them being a smaller 2A school as they may have 30-40 kids on varsity with kids playing both sides of the ball. To be up 15-0, and even 21-15 in the third quarter, Douglass has nothing to be ashamed of. McNamara is actually much more improved than last year, their 2nd year coach is really turning the program around but WCAC play will determine how far they have truly come

Hhhhhmmm, I just engaged in a text chat with a Douglass peep who informed me that they had a senior QB who had been two years in waiting to take over this season but decided just before the start of the season that he no longer wanted to play football. So Douglass just coached up its two JV QBs from last year to run the team this season. Maybe this explain what I thought during the game that the QBs several times turned the wrong way for handoffs or simply forgot the play called or even called plays that weren't sent in. I even think I once heard the Douglass OC call out to flop the play but the QB failed to do so and ran the play into a Mac brick wall when the flop would have been a better option. Nonetheless, Douglass hung in there and played their hearts out to me. And Mac played well also to maintain its pose and workmanlike got back into the game and won.
This was a much better game to see than Wise's running clock bore numbs think is making Coach p the GOAT of MD High School Football Coaches.
