All leagues have a few teams that are good and some that are not as competitive. But the most competitive and talented league overall is Metro AYF, Followed by the Capital Beltway league, then Mid Maryland. You're wrong. The CCYFL is better than the MVYFL. I go over a list of reasons in this post mocofb.com/post/50311. The primary reason is the CCYFL has higher weight limits across the board and also allows OBL's (Older but Lighter) which are older players that are allowed to play down because they weigh less. There's a reason Damascus left the MVYFL for the CCYFL, they face a lot more competition in the CCYFL with Westminster, Frederick, Arbutus, Olney, and Clarksburg. I talked to Olney coaches that no longer scrimmage MVYFL teams because they just end up shutting them out and scoring on them easily due to the big weight difference. The MVYFL's 12U has a lower weight limit than the CCYFL's 11U just to give you an example of how different the weight limits are. I have no clue which one ccyfl or mvyfl is better between the two...

CCYFL teams left Mid Maryland primarily because they could not compete at the highest level. The RFL has low numbers teams/kids, at the smaller age groups 6,7,8,9 they played 8 man football which is not good for teaching the kids the game the right way...You league MVYFL which has former Mid Maryland teams such as Oakdalw, Linganore and Urbana is probably comptative amongst one another but when the teams I mentioned were in Mid Maryland they were below average and could not really compete. The game speeds up the further south you go at the youth level. Olney didn't leave the Mid Maryland because they couldn't compete, they left the mid Maryland league because they had problems with the league banning them from the playoffs for being too good, so the opposite of what you're saying is true. olney.wusa9.com/news/news/393031-olney-boys-football-team-banned-playoffsOlney had Sals team that was good, but the rest ahhh...that situation with trying to pick B level vs the highest level I can't speak on because I wasn't involved in that situation. I know most leagues like to fill their highest division IE A division before they do the B, and most programs well some programs want to compete at the highest level anyway.

I think people are confusing MVYFL with MMYFCL. Damascus used to play in MMYFCL (Mid Maryland) but I don't think they've played in Mountain Valley unless it was a long time ago.

They played in Mountain Valley for years, but left around 2007, for better competition in Mid Maryland.

Mountain Valley is strictly a feeder league. Each team with the exception of Mt. Airy feeds into the local HS. You have to live in the HS boundaries to play for a certain team. They typically run the same offense and defense as the HS using most of the same terminology. Programs can ask for exceptions for out of area kids but they are generally denied.

PONY - super bowl champs JV - super bowl champs varsity- super bowl champs This was only the second time in the long history of the MVYFL that the same organization has won all 3 Superbowls. The only other time this has happened was in 1987 when Damascus won the Pony, JV, and Varsity Superbowl games. I still remember those Superbowl games, which were played at Damascus in 1987. I probably still have that 2nd place trophy stuffed away in a closet somewhere. The Cougars were always a tough opponent.

Damascus was average in mid Maryland, neva could beat md Terps, Eldridge, or randall town, not to mention catonsville. Dmas and olney competed but not with upper teams.

That’s because all of those teams recruited kids from outside of their areas. Mid Maryland got out of hand with that, that’s why Damascus left.
