Given the heavy turnover last year (Tuscarora, TJ, Frederick, Urbana) we may in for a quiet off-season. Still, as we do yearly, I figured we may as well open up a thread for any coaching moves.

If I were to speculate, I’d say the only 3 I could even maybe see changing are Brunswick, Linganore, and Walkersville.
Brunswick because of Smith’s apparent issues with the administration (suspension). Linganore and Walkersville simply because Conner and Polce are old lol

TJ job is advertised, but likely because the HC isn't a teacher and the AD has to post it.

Per Twitter, Coach Joe Polce has stepped down at Walkersville. I would assume DC Tyler Thompson is the favorite to replace him. A fixture of FREDCO football for the last three decades, it will be interesting to see if this is it for Polce or if he heads elsewhere.

The OC at Linganore is a Walkersville grad, so maybe he goes home. The DC at Walkersville played for Coach Connor, so maybe he goes home.

A ton of respect for Coach Polce. His teams were arguably the most physical in FredCo. His program was a weight room/community based program built from the youth program up!

As you get older you get to watch many coaches throughout their careers. Joe was "that" close to arguably winning anywhere from 4-6 more states. If he had a QB a couple years when Urbana was loaded who knows? A couple of losses to Middletown in the playoffs? And two losses in state finals during his magical three-year run? Is it a game of inches or a game of matchups? A player here or a player there? He put Walkersville on the map with a simple approach to high school football, and it worked. Congrats to him as he moves forward.

The Mamba provided what I view as his most impressive statistic: in the 17 years before Polce took over, Walkersville did not win a single playoff game. In his 14 years at the helm, the Lions won 17. That’s program building at its finest. Job well done!

Joe has a special place at Walkersville. He was born and raised in the Ville, played there as did his kids. He teaches at the high school and coached in youth program. He is not 14 years connected but 55 years connected to the community and had great support throughout. He also, got the alumni motivated and involved. The replacement may know the x's and o's of football better but replacing a legacy is a tough act to follow.
