Crazy to think that since Oakdale’s inception the only team in the county with more state championships than them in football is Middletown. Middletown was SO good during those early years when Oakdale was first forming. A lot has been written recently about how Linganore dominated Oakdale during those first few seasons but nobody bothered to point-out that Middletown was dominating BOTH of them back then. They were easily one of the best, if not THE best, public football team in that period.

Hats off to Linganore! You guys played a great game and a great season. You’re not always gonna win the game, but you were in it and played a heck of a game. You never quit. You never gave up You can learn a lot more from this game and move on. You have a lot of life to live.

With three minutes left Oakdale was up by three touchdowns. Many of the Linganore fans started leaving. Then Linganore drove for a touchdown and got the ball back. After a few plays Petruzello squirmed out of a sack and found an unguarded receiver for an easy TD. With 50 seconds left Linganore onside kicked. An Oakdale player grabbed for it before it went 10 yards and muffed it! The ball was rolling on the field and an Oakdale player just barely edged out a Linganore player to seal the win.
A couple things hurt Linganore. First, they stopped Oakdale on their first drive of the third quarter and got flagged when a player couldn't get off the field in time for the punt. The penalty kept the drive going. If someone had called a time out it would have preserved the stop. Secondly, after a great Evan Austin run it seemed that Linganore didn't get much pressure on him since they were trying to contain him. With time to throw he was pretty deadly.
The big leads that Oakdale got took Linganore out of their run-heavy offense, but Petruzello stepped up and made great third down throws. Also, the Linganore play calls were really inventive and frequently worked well.

Also, the Linganore play calls were really inventive and frequently worked well. As someone that has criticized the LHS offensive scheme in the past, I definitely agree that they stepped it up during the back half of the season. Getting more receivers involved, and also using an Hback to juice up the running game, both made noticeable differences. This team came a long way. Hats off to Oakdale (just the classy ones, not you fredcofootball ). They had a great squad that went out and did what we all thought they would do back in August. Hunter Thompson is POY IMO. He's a shutdown corner. And by far, the Best Fredco receiver since Addison , and a great return man to boot. Kid plays almost every single snap. When City came to town with their 3 D1 1,000 yd receivers, they wouldn't even throw his way for most of the game. But then at one point, it was like their coach elected to have a showdown and threw deep at him 3 straight times- no dice. The first pass thrown his way that did eventually get caught was one he intercepted. City finally did make one completion to Thompson's man in garbage time (a measly 5 yd stop) and they were so excited they got an unsportsmanlike penalty. As a WR, Thompson goes across the middle, goes deep, goes wherever the hell he wants and still makes the play. Great hands , great range, and very physical. He seems to have good speed, but apparently must be a tenth of a second away from playing P5 i guess - i don't get it. Anyway, he gets my FredCo Heisman vote.

I can't understand why major programs aren't knocking-down his door. If speed is the issue (I've never seen anyone catch him from behind) then make him a TE. The kid certainly has the frame for it. Just doesn't make any sense. He looked like a man among boys playing with those City receivers and they had better offers. It's crazy. I predict he spends one season at Ohio, starts as a freshman, and then lands at a major power. UMD coaches will once again be making excuses.

That’s a mighty big expectation of a freshman at a BCS school.

A lot of kids get to college and you need to put 20 lbs. on them before you can do anything with them. That's not the case with him. If anything, he's bigger than what they have him listed at. I heard the Ohio coaches were at the game on Saturday. Probably getting nervous about all the attention.

My POY is still the QB who makes everything happen on O. Without him, they don't win it all. As for Thompson he's a bigger Art Monk IMHO, and will go P5 in a year or two. Barney at the UMD is clueless.

Barney at the UMD is clueless. Present your football experience, resume, and clues to UMD to get onboard and up their game. But don't cite McCo sports forum poster as your primary football claim to fame. That's what I use and it will get you no where bubs.....trust me.
