I love how all the NW haters just keep giving us bulletin board material for our players and coaches to thrive off of !! Y’all do know our players look at this board on a daily basis I thought y’all would have learned that after Friday finally but I guess not Beatable this year, young Quince Orchard was, strong enough to defeat Broadneck, you are not - Yoda using the force to communicate with Northwest High School HE’S BAAAACK 😳

>Northwest vs. Broadneck: Broadneck is a bit of a hard team to pin down. They have a very balanced offense and their defense has also been quite strong. That one-score loss to McDonogh looks better week over week and the Bruins can claim to have played McDonogh better than *5* MIAA teams. I'm just not sure though if the Bruins offense is good ENOUGH or the defense is good ENOUGH to put them on par with a clicking Northwest. Aside from McDonogh, in the Bruins' other games against winning teams I just can't say either side of the ball performed well enough to make me consider them contenders. I'll take Northwest by 14 but would not be surprised if it's closer. As another poster mentioned, the Bruins have a player familiar with the Jags in backup/1B QB Patrick Doyle. Honestly, he should've stayed with the Jags. Not that they're hurting for good QBs atm, but imagine how dangerous their backfield could've been with both Doyle and Berry as third year starters. Ah well. Perhaps Doyle will have some nice surprises for his former team. >Churchill vs. BCC: Fully agree that this will be the most "lit" game atmosphere in MoCo. The Barons are not to be underestimated. Churchill may have gotten better since their last meeting, but so has BCC. People generally know about Carson Griffey and Coach Minturn's triple option offense but the Barons defense has been very underrated. They held NW to 14 (not saying they would do that again) and nearly did the unthinkable. Churchill didn't have it easy on offense either in the first matchup. But at the same time, that was an absolute statement win against Gburg and David Avit looks to have unlocked a new gear. If the Churchill D could throttle Ituka, they most certainly can do the same against Griffey and co. I see the game being relatively close in the first half before Churchill pulls away in the second to win 42-14. >WJ @ Wise: Rooting for the Cats! But saying this is tough would be an understatement. WJ has gotten their wins on the back of their defense and has posted quite a few 21-7 type scores. You have to have a QO/Flowers caliber team to force the Pumas into that sort of slugfest and WJ unfortunately is not there yet. So Charlie Blessing will need to have the game of his life if he doesn't want his HS career to end this week. Go shock the world Cats! Wise 35-7. >Blake vs. Urbana: This looks to be a slugfest. Urbana enters Round 3 still spotless on defense. Blake defense is not to be trifled with either, even if you can extrapolate meaningful results from only a few games. The Bengals D only gave up 7 in regulation to Sherwood, with the Warriors' other two scores coming on special teams. They held PB to 7 until the Panthers got a garbage time TD at the end. Blair who's got some talent on offense was also held to 7. Urbana came out of Magruder with a very solid 29-0 win but they had to chip away for four quarters to get that score, and will have to work even harder against Blake. Kirby Matson is a very good QB but this would be a lot for just his shoulders, if Blake is to pull this off they need Jeremiah Seaton back. If he's still out, Urbana by 7. If he returns at near-full capacity, give me Blake by 7. I know the Bengals are seeing the disrespect. I think Blake beats Urbana. Blake has a pretty solid defense and offense has tons of playmakers especially if Seaton plays. Last week Magruder didnt seem to have issues moving the ball versus Urbana just had costly mistakes in the redzones a few turnovers inside the 20 I dont see Blake not making the same mistakes. 28- 13 BlakeShoutout to Minturn and staff getting BCC this far but i believe Avit and company are just too much for the Barons 42-14 ChurchillIf you told me WJ would be playing in the State quarterfinals and QO was @ home id tell you that you were insane. Couldnt even fathom this 10 years ago with that said Pumas will be just too much for the Wildcats. 35-7 WiseA lot of grumbling about who plays better football between Mont co and Fred co well we get to really see here with 2 top programs facing off this week. Rolling with NW still humming off the QO upset they win this 1 by 14. 28-14 NW

Some fun facts for the MoCo matchups this week (stats according to Massey):
Northwest has never lost to a team from Anne Arundel County. All time, in competition outside of MCPS, Northwest is 8-6. The six losses were to Good Counsel, Linganore and Wise - twice each. NW has only faced one team from AACo (Old Mill, 34-31 victory in 2014). Broadneck is just 1-3 vs. MoCo teams this century. Broadneck's one win over MoCo was last year vs. Churchill. The losses were to Damascus and QO.
WJ has never lost to a team from PG County. The Wildcats' only other time playing a PG County team its first round victory over High Point this season. WJ has also never lost to a non-MCPS team in the playoffs. (2-0 all time, with its other victory coming vs. Urbana in 2019). WJ only played non-MCPS competition two other times, both losses in the regular season to Fort Hill in 2013-2014.
BCC and Churchill are facing each other in the playoffs for the first time possibly ever (at least this century) - and it is happening in a year when they aren't even in the same region. Churchill is 10-4 vs. B-CC since the turn of the century, but the longest win streak during that span of the rivalry was three wins in a row - achieved by the Dawgs three different times... including its current streak vs. the Barons. A win this week would be the longest win streak (4) in the rivalry this century.
Blake has never beaten a team from outside MCPS, overall 0-8 all time. This includes four losses to FredCo teams (two playoff losses to Linganore and two regular season losses to Walkersville). Interestingly, Blake has never lost a home playoff game though (4-0 all time). Granted, the home playoff games have all been in the last few seasons since the expansion of playoffs, but still an interesting fact.
MCPS has had at least one football state champion every year there was a state tournament since 2013, a streak spanning nine straight football seasons (no tournament in 2020). No other county in Maryland has a currently active streak longer than two years (both Baltimore City and Allegany County have won titles in 2022 and 2021, but not 2019).

Four out of their 8 all-time OOC wins came in their first state title run in 04. In '19 and '21 they played four MoCo opponents in a row in the playoffs - drawing Paint Branch in the QF reseed and QO in the semis both years. In 2013 they played PB in the state semis, in 2006 they drew Sherwood in the semis. This matchup will be a nice change of pace
