It is almost that time of year again! Let me get the preseason prognostications started with a repost. The following has been floating around Twitter as several teams on the list do not seem to agree with where they fall.
Again, not my rankings.
FROM: @maryland_High_School_Sports_ (on instagram)
1. Oakdale 2. Urbana 3. Frederick 4. Middletown 5. Brunswick 6. Walkersville 7. Linganore 8. Catoctin 9. TJ 10. Tuscarora

WOW!! I agree, Oakdale is the preseason #1. Urbana #2? They had some serious losses. I think their D, will still be very good, but I believe the offense will take a step back, but maybe they will be more ball control with Swink at the helm. #3 Frederick, their run game should be strong - I think they are a more likely #2 4-7 to me is a toss up and Tuscarora with Hines and Doc and a better schedule should make BIG strides IMO

A log jam at the top.
1. Oakdale- It appears that Oakdale is loaded. However, they lose Doc and that is a big loss. 1. Linganore- May not have all the so-called all-stars, but they will be tough. A senior dominated team.
2. Frederick- A new head coach and probably a tougher schedule, and they won't be sandbagging' anyone anymore. They are a legit program now. 2. Walkersville-I hear they will be tough all across the board. New field too boot but doubt it will be ready to play on until mid-season.
3. Middletown- Never count these guys out. Not sure what they have coming back. 3. Urbana-----A new head coach that has been around a long time. The Damascus influence will be heavy. What O will this team run?
4. Brunswick-Are they here to stay, as in regional final good? I think they get a new pro turf field too.
5.Tuscarora-Hines and Doc will certainly turn this program around, but not this year. They will be more competitive than in years past. I expect them to push next year.
6. Catoctin-See TJ. I think they get a new pro turf field too. Hard to follow a long-term coach.
7. TJ-They have a new first year coach. Heard they have had good numbers in summer workouts. Should be more competitive but may not show in the win-loss record.
PS-Once I see all the schedules I will know more. PSS-I have seen most of the schedules minus the complete schedules for Urbana and Oakdale, and I see Frederick falling in the above very early rankings.

Oakdale 2. Urbana 3. Frederick 4. Middletown 5. Brunswick 6. Walkersville 7. Linganore 8. Catoctin 9. TJ 10. Tuscarora I like it! I don't agree with it, but I like it! This pretty much looks like the end of season standings from last year. I'd be willing to bet the person that created this list has never even been to a FredCo football game. Oakdale is indeed the clear cut #1. If they don't win states, their season will be a failure. No pressure. Urbana's coaching staff will keep them competitive, but it's hard to imagine they will be better than last year after losing one of Fredco's all-time great Quarterbcks (statistically). #2 sounds a little high though. Frederick will keep on Fredericking, hoping athleticism gets them over the hump of discipline and teamwork. #3 is probably their ceiling. Middletown always gets off to a slow start it seems. Losing their workhorse, Smith, will result in a much different team. But Delauter has shown over the last several years that he will customize his scheme around the positions where he has talent. Sounds obvious, but too many coaches tend to mold the offense around their own hubris. Is this the year they finally lose to Brunswick? Brunswick is definitely on the rise with Houck back for a 3rd year as starting QB (still only a junior!). All the development in town might finally be flowing into the football talent pool. Maybe top 3 if they have other pieces? Walkersville lost alot of key players to graduation, and I have no idea who they have coming back. But as long as Polce is running the show, I expect they will have a solid team. Linganore... where to start?... something happened last year, and I'm not sure what. Discipline, grades, locker room issues? I don't know, but the O-line should be much improved. Hopefully, last year's results humbled a few kids that were in need of such an experience. A #7 ranking looks like a great place to start. If you are better than that, prove it on the field. I'm sick of seeing cherry picked highlight films taken from otherwise awful performances. I'm not sure about Catoctin and TJ, other than TJ is now rebuilding their rebuild - oof. No way Tuscarora finishes in the cellar again this year. Hines will weed out the cancer in that program. As a long time coach and AD, he brings more administrative clout that will allow him to remove the kid gloves. Disclaimer: I'm throwing out partially educated guesses, just like every one else on here. If you are too scared or "superior" to voice your own opinion now, then your hindsight won't matter later on. I've seen too many prudes here over the years that like to chime in about these prediction posts, but are afraid to throw out their own predictions. Get over yourself. It's just for fun.

I have all the schedules except Urbana and Oakdale. Even the FREDCO AD site is in-complete. Looking at Fredericks schedule they could be in for a rough year. Thier first game against Seneca at Seneca will speak volumes.

I doubt they are better than CHS. I know this board has strong affections for Hines/Doc combo but those two don’t have a magic wand. That program is in the basement and Frederick’s recruiting only makes it that much tougher. I think both of those guys do a nice job managing top talent, but this is a whole new challenge that will take years of dedication

Who s this kid Ryan Mclister on Middletown riding sophomore?? never heard of him Not sure but the Knights will be lead by another sophomore this year with a very familiar name: Brittin Poffenbarger. The class of 2026 grad already has an offer from UNLV.
